Home \ VFR800

Another DMr favorite is the Honda VFR800.  With a wonderful engine and looks to match, the VFR800 is the choice of many discriminating riders.  The unfortunate side is that Honda chose to save money in the worst possible place - the suspension.  Not only is the valving really bad and the springs terribly soft, the stock parts have limited adjustments.  Luckily there are ways to fix that!

 

Fork Upgrades


Springs (installed)

Spring rate chosen based on rider weight and type of riding.  All springs are linear rate parts which are best for performance applications.  Installation includes any required spacers for proper preload setting.


Revalve

Fork street revalve includes disassembly of the cartridges and full cleaning.  Damping rods are polished for better seal and decreased damping rod bushing wear.  New compression valve pistons included.  Shim stacks for both the compression and rebound direction installed based on a custom configuration to match each rider. Price includes installation with new fluid - ready to bolt on.  This is the suggested setup for most street riders.


Rebound Upgrade

This option also replaces the stock rebound valve piston.  This setup benefits aggressive street and trackday/race riders.


Adjustable Fork Caps

Need those external adjustments?  This would be the ticket for you!  This conversion replaces the stock VFR800 fork caps and damping rods with parts from either a VTR1000F or CBR600.  Parts availability is limited, please contact DMr for more information.

Got seals?  Replacing your fork seals during a revalve is always a good idea.  Don't settle for the sub-standard quality of bargain fork seals.  For years I preached that only Honda OEM seals were worth putting into forks - all others were junk.  Well, that's been true.... until now.  The SKF brand has been highly regarded in commercial and industrial applications and finally they have released parts for motorcycle applications.  These seals have the same quality, durability, and wear resistance of Honda seals with much less friction.  Looking for that little bit extra?  These might be just what you are looking for!


Notes: Other service items such as bushings are extra.


Shock Upgrades

Spring (installed)

New spring installed on customer supplied VFR rear shock.  Spring rate chosen based on rider weight and type of riding.  All springs are linear rate parts which are best for performance applications.  Installation includes any required spacers for proper mounting and preload setting.


Revalve (stock shock)

This revalve replaces the stock internal valving with DMr high-flow parts.  The main shaft is hand-finished to remove glazing and decrease seal and bushing wear.  All internal parts are fully cleaned and the shock is reassembled with the best synthetic fluid.  Price does not include the shock itself, a stock VFR shock must be supplied.  This is the suggested setup for the average street rider who wants the most improvement for the least amount of money.


CBR929 Conversion

(98-01 only)

This is a DMr exclusive and one of our most popular items!  This conversion takes a standard CBR929RR shock absorber and converts it so that it is a direct replacement for the stock VFR800 shock.  The shock would also have a new spring installed that is tuned to the rider's weight and type of riding.  The revalving service replaces the piston with a DMr high flow version and custom tailored shim stacks for the best performance possible.  Price includes the donor CBR shock so nothing would need to be provided by the customer.

CBR600F4 w/ Mount

Another DMr exclusive is the CBR600F4 shock for the 6th Generation VFR.  The standard CBR600F4 shock has a new spring installed and fully revalved with the same high-performing DMr valving system.  A modified upper mount is included which allows the CBR shock to work on the VFR.  The price includes the donor CBR shock so nothing would need to be provided by the customer.
